Cheap Lightsaber using Neon Wire

UPDATE:

Version 2 of the EL Wire lightsaber is complete! :Click Here:

Last year I tried to make a Lightsaber for Halloween.

I build it the same as below but used the chemicals from break-and-glow sticks to light it.

In the end it wasn't very good.  This year I am going to use neon wire.

This light saber cost less than $30

The Parts

You only need to go to three places to get these parts, Home Depot and Target and Pepboys

(Vinyl dye not in photo)

The handle is simply two pipe fittings.  They have removable caps with rubber seals in them.

Available in three sizes so make your kid one too!

(This is medium, although large would have fixed a few problems)

The metal parts consist of a metal rod, six nuts, two small washers, one large washer, and end cap (not used).

Sorry no measurements they were picked and tested as I browsed the store

A 3 foot threaded rod, and clear plastic tubing.

Make sure the rod is small enough to allow room for neon wire

6 Feet of Neon Wire with inverter

One can of fluorescent spray paint.

I know it says ACE, and no home depot, but I already had it.
