My Dad and his shop. Rough cutting the blocks of wood. Yes we were dumb and didn't use dust masks.

The rough cut pieces on the way home for a bit.

I laser etched the design patterns into the wood.

This helped to drill the required holes later.

It will be laser etched again, as many of the marks will be worked out of the wood.

Back at the shop for drilling and shaping.

You can see some of the starter holes at the top.

In order to achieve the curve the wood first was stair-stepped.

This was a VERY time consuming process.

On the very last piece, and about the second to last cut, somehow the table on the saw dropped 1/8".

This causes a deeper then needed cut.  It forces me to change the curve, which takes lots of time, but it's not a total loss.

I was able to get one piece of wood shaped before it was getting too late, and I headed home.

Lots more to come.

Zap the wood worker.

After hours of sanding all four pieces were shaped.

The belt on the sander lasted just long enough to finish.

Also note the funky dust vacuum setup.

The feature holes are now jig-sawed in.

Comparing my hand done curve to the laser-cut template.

Mock-up of the sides.

Mock up with lid.
