The faceplate

Back to the Kingston Demo PC

First the old faceplate is completely dismantled, and every part measured and put into a design program.

After many steps of measuring, etching, cutting, and painting the faceplate is complete.

All the etched material is cut into the backside of the lucite leaving a mirror-like finish on the surface of the faceplate.

The backside of the faceplate shows the paint that gives each etching its color.

Each layer of paint is thin enough to let pass through, allowing for a backlight glow from the faceplate.

I will be using a combination of LEDs and Cold Cathodes to light the front of the system up.
